Shopify makes commerce software for merchants: the admin they run their store from, checkout, customer accounts, and Point of Sale on iOS and Android. Most merchants run at least one app built by a third-party developer inside Shopify's own screens, so the design problem is making sandboxed apps feel native to the admin, while the same components in checkout take on each merchant's brand.
